This evening we had an egagement session at the legislature grounds and I finally got what I think is a pretty cool shot of the main pool. It’s very slightly lopsided but straoghtening it forces me to make it a square shot doesn’t quite work so well. Also, I thought about getting rid of the cranes and the bird that looks like lint or soemthing, but I decided to leave it all and there is almost nothing altered in this shot apart from a very slight brightness and contrast adjustement.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags Edmonton Photographer, HDR Photography, Shopping on July 24, 2010 by Dave WilsonI’ve given this HDR thing a try a few times now and was never very successful. But I recently picked up the Rick Sammon Book “HDR Photography Secrets for Digital Photographers” and thought I’d give it another go. Finding subject matter was the first mission. Not an overly easy one either! So while I hit up Walmart today I decided to try this.
Once finished I felt it was still kind of blah so ran it through Topaz Adjust 4 which finally gave it that HDR feel. Still, not the most engaging subject. I’ll keep trying when the opportunities strike.
Day 2 – July 17th – A yellow flower for you.
Posted in Uncategorized on July 18, 2010 by Dave WilsonToday we went out and had a nice portrait session with a great family. As always I try to shoot anything of interest and while Mel described a photography technique to one of the family members I turned andused that technique to try and get some shots of flys and bees on flowers. Sadly, none of those turned out as the wind was enough to make focusing in close enough too difficult. But I did end up with a few nice abstract shots. This is the least abstract of them.
Have another round! – Day 1 – July 16th – 2010 – Self Portrait
Posted in Self Portrat with tags Black And White, Edmonton Photographer, Emotions, Self Portrait on July 16, 2010 by Dave WilsonAfter watching a very touching and inspiring documentary on War Photographer James Nachtwey (http://www.jamesnachtwey.com) I’ve decided to re-embark on the 365 trend. This is my 3rd official go at it. My first attempt ended the same time my marriage did and my second attempt just kind of fizzled out for various reasons. Now the only things in my way are my jobs. Two of my three jobs tend to limit the variety of locations and situations I might find myself in when looking for subject matter and that combined with the winter months proved to be a major component to the demise of round 2.
Have a look at the RULES page to see what guidelines I’ve given myself to follow this time ’round.
And with that, Here’s Round 3′s first image.
